DWD is delighted to have secured planning permission from London Borough of Lambeth Council for the redevelopment of Iqra VA Primary School in Clapham, on behalf of Baxall Construction.
The project is part of the Department for Education’s School Rebuilding Programme and will be delivered by Baxall Construction over the next year. The comprehensive demolition and rebuild will provide modern indoor and outdoor facilities to meet the needs of the pupils now and in the future.
The approved development proposes to demolish the existing school buildings and for the development of a part-one and part-two storey building. Complete reconfiguration of the playground and landscaping is proposed to enable the school to extend the teaching spaces and support active learning. The building has been successfully designed to achieve net-zero carbon and an urban greening factor that exceeds London Plan policy requirements.
DWD led on the planning from pre-application stage through to planning committee, which included extensive engagement with London Borough of Lambeth prior to the application submission and during the determination period.
DWD is now advising on the discharge of condition application. We are also working with Baxall Construction on a number of other DfE School Rebuilding Programme projects.
