EXPERIENCE
Costco, Stevenage
DWD secured planning and listed building consent for Costco at planning committee for external alterations and change of use of the Grade II listed former John Lewis warehouse from Use Class B8 (with associated Use Class B1) to Sui Generis use as a Membership Warehouse Club. The planning permission and Listed Building Consent was issued by Stevenage Borough Council in August 2016 after lengthy collaboration with the Local Planning Authority, including at the pre-application stage.
DWD were instructed to prepare and manage the planning application which included the preparation of a Retail Impact Assessment to consider the impact of the proposed development upon the wider catchment area. DWD also managed the project team of sub consultants including a Heritage specialist to ensure that the impacts of the proposed development were robustly considered. The core issue in the determination of the application was ensuring that the listed building was sympathetically restored and enhanced to secure the future use of the building. DWD subsequently successfully discharged the pre-commencement planning conditions on both permissions.
DWD are instructed to assist the construction team in the delivery of the project.
