Geffrye Street, Hackney

DWD secured permission for the approval of a roof top extension to an office building in Geffrye Street, Hackney.

The property is located in the Kingsland Conservation Area and is adjacent to Grade II listed properties.

A unanimous approval of the application at Planning Committee was the result of two rounds of pre-application engagement with the Council to agree an appropriate scheme that addressed comments raised by both the heritage and design officers.

The extension in an existing urban area provides a scheme that provides the future occupiers with high quality employment space, whilst also facilitating the modernisation of the existing ground and first floor employment space. A key part of securing approval was in demonstrating the heritage and daylight and sunlight impacts were acceptable and that concerns about overlooking could be mitigated.
