EXPERIENCE
Mulberry, Westfield Stratford
DWD are instructed by Mulberry in respect of business rates matters. This includes their shop at Westfield Stratford, where several DWD valuers participated on the Rating Surveyors Association committee that negotiated levels of value for the entire shopping centre in the 2010 List.
The shopping centre opened in September 2011, with a rateable value of £156,000 applied to the Mulberry unit from December the same year. This was reduced to £123,000 on appeal.
Vacancy rates rose rapidly following the end of the Olympic Games and the closure of The Olympic Park. We submitted Material Change of Circumstance appeals arguing that this produced a negative impact on value. After extensive negotiations with the Valuation Office a further 35% reduction was secured for the remainder of the 2010 Rate List.
DWD continue to provide advice for Mulberry on business rates matters.
