DWD are pleased to have submitted an application for outline planning permission to Chelmsford City Council for 3,500 homes at ‘Zone 2’ of Chelmsford Garden Community. The application was submitted on behalf of a joint venture between Countryside Partnerships and L&Q (CLQ).
The new community will be delivered around three new villages, providing local services including three primary schools and one secondary school, nursery provision, medical centre, village hall and flexible employment floorspace.
The proposals will also deliver over 130 hectares of open space, inclusive of a new nature park and sports facilities, as well as associated highway and transport infrastructure, and a network of walking and cycling routes.
The application follows on from DWDs work on the Chelmsford Garden Community Masterplan which was approved at Committee in January 2023.
This proposed development is the next stage of DWDs ongoing work with CLQ to deliver the new neighbourhood at Beaulieu, which when complete will provide 3,600 homes and amenities such as a health centre, Beaulieu Park All Through School, Beaulieu Park Railway Station, Beaulieu Parkway relief road, and a net-zero primary school.
In total, Chelmsford Garden Community will deliver around 10,000 new homes across north-east Chelmsford.
