DWD are instructed by the Consumers Association, a registered charity, in respect of business rates matters.

On appeal the rating valuation of their assessment at 2 Marylebone Road London was reduced by 11% to reflect issues such as the accommodation’s fragmented layout and the mixed ages of different elements of the building.

Consumers’ Association began a programme of works to refurbish the building in 2016. During the works we achieved Section 44a relief on the unoccupied parts of the building. When our client vacated the premises, by using the fact that one of the buildings assessed is listed, we were able to secure a 100% empty rate exemption for the duration of the remaining works.

DWD continue to provide advice for Consumers’ Association in respect of 2010 and 2017 List business rates matters.
