Members of DWD acted as planning consultant, providing strategic advice to DONG Energy (now Orsted) on an application for up to 207 wind turbines in the Irish Sea, and associated on-shore infrastructure at Heysham, Lancashire. The Development Consent Order for the Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm, was granted in November 2014 and generated its first power in September 2017, with a total capacity of 750MW, enough to power around 500,000 homes.

Sarah Price played a critical auditing role of all application documentation and was responsible for preparing a number of key application documents including the Planning Statement, Design and Access Statement, Grid Connection and Cable Statement and Code of Construction Practice. DWD advised DONG through the examination process and negotiated the Statement of Common Ground with the local authorities.
